St Martin's & St Paul's
Parish Canterbury
The Friends exist to support St. Martin's as a church with a special historic significance. Our aims include
keeping this unique church open for visitors, providing educational literature concerning St. Martin's for schools and
other visitors, and raising money to look after the building.
An important further aim is to enable the church to fulfil
its role as part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site. At present local members gather twice a year; in May to
celebrate St. Augustine's Day and in November to celebrate Martinmas. The photo left shows Bishop Richard Llewellin and Elisabeth Bartlett, the secretary of the Friends of St Martin's, at the 2010 AGM held in the church on the 7th November.
Our current projects: to construct toilet facilities in or near the church and to improve disabled access.
An international group, the Friends come from all over the world.
A praying group, the Friends are prayed for by name during each calendar year on Thursdays at St. Martin's and are encouraged to pray for Christian unity wherever they happen to be at that time.
What it costs: £5 per annum; £3 per annum for concessions.
